Climate Action and Adaptation Plan (CAAP)

Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) prepared a Climate Action and Adaptation Plan (CAAP) in 2012 to establish the framework to both reduce Green House Gas (GHG) emissions and prepare for the impacts of climate change in its facilities and operations. In 2018 Metro has begun updating the 2012 CAAP to report on the results of the programs implemented in response to the original CAAP and to include new facilities and assets that has since then been added to its growing public transportation system.

Global ASR was a member of the team of consultants to Metro in the preparation of the CAAP update that was adopted by the Metro Board in July 2019. The CAAP builds on Metro’s existing commitments to environmental and sustainability stewardship by creating a visionary path for minimizing contributions to climate change while building resilience to a changing climate.

Global ASR’s scope of work for the project included visiting various Metro rail and bus divisions to interview employees and collect data regarding climate impacts and mitigation measures. Global ASR also assisted in workshops attended by Metro employees and other stakeholders regarding adaptive pathways of climate adaptation.
